Hora del Cuento (Spanish Storytime)

Title: Hora del Cuento (Spanish Storytime)

Day of the week/Time: Saturday 11-11:45

Ages: 0-6 years

Goals: Provide a storytime that allows Spanish speaking patrons, or those who would like to learn Spanish, an opportunity to participate in storytime in their native language.

Reasoning for Program:  Families may have children of various ages. By having a storytime that is adaptable to all ages it gives them the opportunity to attend together. Additionally this storytime is scheduled when caregivers who work regular Monday-Friday jobs will be able to attend. There is a large population of patrons in the area who speak Spanish. Having this storytime allows them to participate in their native language.

Activities: This storytime has the same format of Family Storytime, but is presented entirely in Spanish. The schedule will include several books and songs. The content will span multiple age groups, unless there is a majority of one age group in which case all content will be geared towards that age.

Supplies: Books from library collection, bubbles, stickers, scarves, small bean bags to toss.

Staff: Librarian or library assistant. Staff presenting the storytime will be fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

Community Partners: N/A

Budget: Included in $600 yearly storytime budget.
