Title: Home Daycare Outreach

Day of the week/Time: Monday 10-11

Ages: 2-5

Goals: Bring a storytime out into the community. Model for daycare providers how to do a storytime the has early literacy practices.

Reasoning for Program: Children in home daycares may not be able to attend regular library storytimes. Additionally, care providers may not have training in early literacy development. Activities: Library staff will visit a different home daycare center one day a week, they will visit each center once a month. While there library staff will do a storytime that consists of several stories that are read using dialogic reading skills, interactive songs, and a craft activity the children can take home. Library staff will leave a new bin of books for the daycare and pick up the old bin. Finally, they will leave a flyer to go home with each child that has the songs and books used during the storytime, early literacy tips, and upcoming events.

Supplies: A bin of books from library collection, books from library collection for the storytime, craft supplies, and egg shakers for songs. Fliers that lists the books and songs (including lyrics) used during the storytime, early literacy tips for parents, and a list of upcoming library events.
